food is complicated

food is complicated. we all have a unique relationship to each food that we eat. when we eat something and get sick from it, we can experience a form of food ‘trauma’ causing us to avoid those foods in the future. when we get bad news while we are eating we might unconsciously connect that food with the the emotions that arise from receiving that bad news. eating disorders & disordered eating habits can sometimes develop as a result of these ‘crossed wire events.’ sometimes we don’t know why we have an aversion to a specific food & sometimes it is crystal clear. part of healing our relationship to food is also connected to healing our relationship to our worthiness of nourishment, to our ability to trust our discernment, to our ability to trust ourselves & others, and to our ability to feel safe to receive.
